Is StaticShot for Mac free?

Yes. Capturing, annotating and uploading are free. Pro adds password-protected galleries, view counts and managing your uploads.

Do I need a static.md account?

No. Uploads work without one. Sign in from the menu bar if you want your uploads in your static.md library.

Why does it need Screen Recording permission?

macOS requires it for any app that takes screenshots. StaticShot only reads the screen when you press a capture shortcut.

Why does macOS say it can’t verify the developer?

Early builds are previews that Apple hasn’t notarized yet. Follow the install steps under the download button: allow StaticShot once in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Notarized builds open without the warning.

Where do my uploads go?

To static.md, as a gallery with a short link. Images are served from static.md; signed-in uploads also appear in My uploads.

Is there a Windows or Linux version?

Not yet. The StaticShot Chrome extension captures, annotates and uploads from any desktop browser.

Optional

Sign in with static.md from the menu bar and every upload lands in My uploads on the web, ready to lock or delete. The menu shows your plan, and Pro follows you from the browser.

It’s the same static.md login AI agents use: approve StaticShot once, and disconnect it anytime from Connected apps on the web.
