Notes are accessible only to people who have the link. URLs are never indexed by search engines, and their keyspace is large enough that guessing one is practically impossible — we also actively block enumeration attempts. Pro users can go further by enabling end-to-end encryption or access control lists, ensuring that even someone with the link cannot read the content.
Yes. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and other MCP clients connect to static.md/mcp once you approve them, and can read and write your notes and whiteboards, keep their own memory in a /memories folder, and upload images into your notes. Free accounts get 50 agent tool calls a day, Pro gets 5,000. With Pro, agents can also search your notes by the words in them, and agents on your computer can read and write your end-to-end encrypted notes through the open-source E2E bridge, which keeps the key on your side, and you can limit an agent to some of your folders when you connect it. Pro also keeps a 30-day history of what agents change in your notes, with a diff and a one-click restore. Setup steps are on the AI agents page.
With Google, GitHub, or an email and password. You don’t need an account to write notes; signing in keeps them on every device. Pro and AI agent access need a confirmed email address: Google sign-ins already have one, and GitHub or email sign-ins confirm it with a link we send.
